It has a moist chocolate sponge, layered with a rich double chocolate ganache, mascarpone cream and macerated strawberries. For those amongst you that love a bit of liqueur with your chocolate, you can choose to add a strawberry rum to your sliced strawberry filling. It is then decorated with, you guessed it more chocolate ganache, mascarpone and fresh strawberries and should you choose, a personalised chocolate plaque.

I named this cake as โ€˜traditionalโ€™ as itโ€™s the cake of my childhood. Every birthday, anniversary, christening and even weddings would be celebrated with this cake, and when you taste it, you will see why it remains the all-time favourite Italian celebration cake.
